Research is the key to improving the long term outlook for kidney patients.

Pioneering health science

Research is an essential part of the work of the kidney units at Guys and St Thomas’ and King’s College hospitals.

Both Trusts are part of a pioneering Academic Health Science collaboration, the Kings Health Partners, whose driving purpose is to discover and bring about more effective improvements in health and well being for patients in London and people everywhere.

Research into all aspects of Chronic Kidney Disease is happening across the UK.

At Guy’s and St Thomas’ we are particularly looking at ways to reduce rejection and improve matching for kidney transplantation. The kidney department at King’s College Hospital is currently conducting a number of clinical trials in kidney care and also undertaking research into Chronic Kidney Disease.

From time to time the researchers will need to recruit patients to help with some of these projects. Please see the details of the various projects for more information.
